ach 2nd grader cut the notches on the own cardboard loom, strung their own warp yarns and did an amazing job weaving. They were great at checking their patterns as they were weaving to make sure they didn’t skip and to make sure each row was the opposite of the row previously. The neon colors we had were a big hit with the kids, but not my camera. Sorry!
ere are the sketches the fourth graders created before they began the embroidery letters. Thanks again to Jessica Hische and her blog Daily Drop Cap for inspiration and for allowing our blog to use her designs in our posts. The students looked at several of her alphabets and discussed the choices they can make when created a font. Line weight, color, types of lines used, adding a background, etc.
